Pre-Cruise Q&A with Brunch Bounce

Q&A with Irv and some of the Brunch Bounce DJs that will be on the boat.

ARQ

1. The ultimate tour for you is: (pick two to three other bands.)

Jamiroquai never really caught on in the US and haven't toured here in a very long time. If I could hear "Virtual Insanity", "You Give Me Something" & "Main Vein" live I'd die a happy man. Mana is the greatest spanish rock band of all time. Nuff' Said. Can't get more suave than that my friends. The Smiths reunion. We're all waiting on you Morrissey. Do us a solid and get the band together again.

2. Do you have a hobby that people might never guess you were interested in?

I love nature and so I spend my free time caring for my plants. It's really important for me to be surrounded by flora in order to feel at balance in a world surrounded by technology. There is nothing like walking into my studio and seeing life flourish amongst all my digital gear. Besides, who doesn't love a little green in their lives ;-)

3. If you could name a newly discovered planet, what would it be?  "Nu Queens" after the greatest borough on earth.

Adamboy

1. Who is your favorite fiction hero and why?
I'm gonna have to say Lone Wolf from the Lone Wolf and Cub series. For those unfamiliar, it's basically the wildest revenge story EVER about a Samurai who is betrayed and starts killing EVERYONE, with his son by his side. Too. Epic.

2. What artist would you not want to go onstage after?

I wouldn't wanna go on stage after Yeezus. He'd throw down some next level performance/experience and I'd be left with an utterly stunned crowd who's lives have been changed forever. Then spin after that? Nah lol

3. What is your favorite venue to play? What venue do you hope to play?

So far my favorite venue to play has been Output in BK//NY. I definitely have my sights set on playing at HardFest or Mad Decent Block Party one day.

Irv

1. What motto do you live by?

Healthy fear is good and on the other side of fear is the awesome

2. As a kid, what was your favorite Halloween costume?

The Karate Kid for sure. Crane kicks for everyone!

3. Tell us something someone would be surprised to learn about you.

That asides from producing events I did mortgages for a living for the past 3 years. Good riddance to that!

Eauxzown

1. You have 4 spots to fill on a boat that will drop you off at a private island to write, play and record for a month. If anything is possible, whom do you bring?

Daft Punk, Justice, Diplo and Skrillex

Daft Punk - I used to listen to the Prodigy, Chemical brothers and Jamiroquai back in high school, but it was when I first heard DP, that the music and sound truly took over my life.

Justice was the catalyst to really start producing and learning as much as can about making music. Most of Cross is sampled, and that kind of creative sampling is something that I would love to learn and perfect.

Diplo- His mixing showed me that you effectively blend hip-hop/ Caribbean rhythms and dance music together and drive people crazy. My style comes from studying Diplo's earlier DJ sets and trying to emulate his style of quick mixing and spot-on phrasing.

Skrillex- I find his production and sound-design abilities to be second to none.

2. You can only listen to one song for the rest of you life, what is it and why that song?

That would probably be the 10 minute live version of Waters of Nazareth by Justice. I was going to through a rough spot in life when I first heard that song, but when I did, I felt like I could take on a sharknado and win. It makes me feel like that everytime I hear it. That song currently has 13k plays on my itunes. It's kinda crazy.

3. If you could get front row seats to any show, who would it be?
If I were to dream? give me a DJ set with Daft Punk b2b with Justice. Otherwise, Jack-U.

DJ Schoolboy

1. What has been your Best Gig & Worst Gig?

The best Gig I have had believe it or not has to be a kindergarten graduation. They were LIVING! Plus seeing the smiles on every kid was the cherry on top. The Worst Gig had to be a party I did in the Hamptons simply because everyone was a snob and damn near racist. Example: "Nice Yankee hat, what rap song are you playing first?" Stupid shit like that, BUT the lobster was great.

2. If you could get front row seats to any show, who would it be?

Billy Idol! "RIIIIGHT!" Besides James Brown, he is one of the best writers and performers to ever grace a stage.

3. What is your favorite place to visit and why?

Favorite place to visit besides a pizzeria, is the water fountain at the Chelsea market in the Meatpacking District (NYC) while listening to old Latin jazz. Something nostalgic and peaceful about the experience.

Mixal8r

1. What goes through your mind while you are performing?

I mostly focus on being in tune with the crowd's energy. Are they vibing with the pace I'm setting or do I need to liven things up? Maintaining my integrity and trusting my instinct are crucial. Although, it’s always about balance between the crowd's feedback and my sound.

2. If you could actually become and perform as one artist for a night, who would it be?

Without a doubt it would be The Dark prince of techno himself, Gesaffelstein. His presence behind the decks can't be explained. You have to feel it for yourself. I've seen him perform

numerous times and I'm left speechless after each time. His precision, demeanor and style is only rivaled by that of his partner in crime, the boogie man himself, Brodinski.

3. What goal are you working toward?

Leaving my mark on the music world and developing a distinct sound. Whether it be through my sets or events I help produce, all that matters is that I was able to provide a transfixing shared experience.
